Knowsley Labour
THE KNOWSLEY LABOUR DIFFERENCE
Be proud of what we’ve achieved. Here’s how we’re making Knowsley a better place to live and grow up in….
- Investing in youth services We’ve secured £524,000 from the Department for Culture, Media & Sport’s Local Youth Transformation Fund to overhaul youth services across the borough, giving young people clearer routes into training and work —we’re delivering real investment and opportunity for Knowsley’s next generation.
- Growing our towncentre Some £42 million has been invested in Huyton Town Centre by this Labour government and it is this Labour-run council that has used that investment to go towards bettering the lives of every person in Huyton.
- Fixing our roads Nearly £1 millioninvested in road upgrades across Kirkby, including resurfacing and surface dressing, improving durability and safety. A Labour-led investment delivering safer, smoother journeys and longer-lasting roads for residents and businesses across Knowsley.
- Securing Economic Growth We’ve launched the new Economic Growth Plan, setting out a clear roadmap to build a thriving economy for our communities. Theprevious Economic Growth Plan delivered real results — over 6,000 new homes and 11,000 new jobs.
- Best Start In Life Knowsley Labour has expanded free school meals, capped school uniform prices and is rolling out free breakfast clubs to ease the cost of living burden on families. We’re also delivering 30 hours of government-funded childcare, saving working parents up to £7,500 a year.
- A Plan For Homes £15 million has been invested in Halewood which is also seeing new houses being built. Along with the government’s landmark reform to renters’ rights as well an outright ban on ‘no fault’ evictions – means that residents across Knowsley will have access, security and affordability when it comes to the place they choose to call home.
- GCSE Results Improving Knowsley’syoung people are achieving more than ever, thanks to Labour’s continued investment in education and support for schools. 7% more students achieved Grade 4 in English and Maths.
OUR PLEDGES
- To secure pride in our town – Labour is delivering transformational regeneration in our town centres. Including delivering our Shakespeare North centre in Prescot and setting in motion for a complete regeneration of Huyton town Centre. Don’t let Reform stop us in our tracks and delay this progress indefinitely.
- To look after our most vulnerable – With Labour at the helm, we have invested £96million into caring for vulnerable adults and £68 million into children’s services. Reform won’t come close to matching these numbers – in fact we know they will cut them like they have in other councils across the country.
- To put community at the heart of Knowsley – Your local Labour councillors live and breathe their communities. They are investing in grassroots projects which make a difference every day. Some projects they have helped are: Halewood Community Café and Tower Hill Community Centre.
THE KNOWSLEY LABOUR COUNCIL BUDGET:
- £97m for Adult Social Care to protect and support some of our most vulnerable residents, including £5m committed to uphold our commitment to pay the Real Living Wage to external Care Workers who provide important services to our residents
- £73m will go to Children’s Services, with £57m earmarked for Early Help and Children’s Social Care. An extra £3m will be invested in our Children’s Social Care workforce to continue delivering our Children’s Services Improvement Programme
